Nick Edwards

In 2019 we needed to up our metal game. We put out the word and met Nick. He was in the process of moving to Philly from Baltimore, where he had received a Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Towson University in 2013. After school, he worked for a bronze finishing studio, was head of fabrication for a special effects firm and helped to start a small furniture and home décor company. Along the way, he received the Emerging Artist of the Year award at Baltimore’s ARTSCAPE art festival. So we hired Nick as a welder—but soon discovered a secret talent: turns out he’s a gifted teacher and was just the man to take the lead on our new pre-apprenticeship program. The right skills, the right time —and with a deep interest in our social mission —check, check and check.
